I moved this year and my house is being rented. Am I still eligible for homestead exemption this whole year?
I put my home up for sale in July of 2009 but I was still living in it. It's still for sale now but I moved to another city in January 2010 to live with my girlfriend. I have a couple who are renting it (its fully furnished) for 6 weeks while they are visiting their daughter. Then, I may have another renter after that. Am I still eligible through 2010 for my homestead exemption since I was still in my house on Jan 1st 2010? I figure I have to let the county property appraiser know by the end of this year that I have moved. Is that correct? Thanks :)
