Question about Gran turismo 5 photo mode?

I just got the game and was wondering if photo travel and photo mode are the same thing. Also, when I was entering the home information it has the option to set a picture of yourself. I have the ps3 eye camera and I was wondering if I could set a profile pic of myself and how I can do this. Also, does anyone know what the face detection is used for with the eye camera? thanks!
