PLEASE HELP MEE!! lol boy problem?

Ok so...there is this guy at my school tht I like and he just moved here at the end of last schoool yr so this school yr is when we started becoming friends. In the beginning of this year he always went out of his way to make a joke or to talk to me and it just so happens we have the same birthday and that we always seem to do the same things without realizing it which is kinda funny. But anyways then end of sept was homecoming and I had a jerky date and the guy I like had told me tht he would be my backup if my other date had fallen through which was so sweet. But lately it seems like we don't talk as much and I really miss it. He's the kind of guy tht is very friendly and funny but his friendlyness can come off as flirty so I never kno if he likes me back or not. He often jokes around with my best friend calling her babe and sweetie and goes out of his way to do stuff for her and really acts like he likes her even though she has a boyfriend and it makes me jealous tht he's not like that with me anymore. I've never told him how I feel bc I think it would push him away but idk..what are your thoughts on everything? Am I wasting my time? What should I do? Please please please answeer I reeeaaaaallllllyyyy want some input id reallly appriciate it. Thank you! Btw im a jr in high school idk if tht matters lol
